Health Insurance Coverage
Global Bank provides comprehensive health insurance benefits to protect employees and their families. This article covers Private Medical Insurance (PMI), dental insurance, and eye care provisions.
Private Medical Insurance (PMI)
Provider and Coverage
PMI is provided through Bupa under the Global Bank Corporate Healthcare Plan. Employee-only cover is provided at no cost to the employee and is effective from your start date.
What Is Covered
- In-patient and day-patient treatment (private hospital room)
- Out-patient consultations, diagnostics, and treatment
- Cancer care (full cover including experimental treatments approved by Bupa)
- Mental health treatment (up to £15,000 per year, including in-patient and out-patient)
- Physiotherapy and musculoskeletal treatment (up to 15 sessions per condition per year)
- MRI, CT, and PET scans
- Specialist drugs and therapies
What Is Not Covered
- Pre-existing conditions (subject to a 2-year moratorium; conditions symptom-free for 2 years become eligible)
- Cosmetic surgery (unless medically necessary)
- Fertility treatment
- Routine dental and optical (covered under separate benefits below)
- Chronic condition management (GP-led conditions such as diabetes and hypertension)
Adding Dependants
You may add the following dependants to your PMI cover:

Dependants can be added within 30 days of joining, within 30 days of a qualifying life event (marriage, birth of a child), or during the annual benefits window in November.
How to Make a Claim
- Obtain a GP referral to a specialist (this is required for most claims).
- Contact Bupa on 0345 600 8822 or via the Bupa member app to pre-authorise your treatment.
- Provide your scheme membership number (found on your Bupa member card and in Workday under Benefits > Health Insurance).
- Attend your appointment. In most cases, Bupa settles costs directly with the hospital or clinic.
Dental Insurance
Provider and Coverage
Dental insurance is provided through Denplan (part of Simplyhealth). Employee cover is included at no additional cost.
Coverage Levels

Claims are submitted through the Denplan member portal or app. Receipts and treatment details must be uploaded within 90 days of treatment.
Eye Care
All employees are entitled to:
- A free annual eye test, redeemable at any Specsavers location using a Global Bank e-voucher (generated via Workday under Benefits > Eye Care).
- A £100 contribution towards corrective eyewear (glasses or contact lenses) if required for VDU use, redeemable via Specsavers or claimed back via Concur with a valid receipt.
