New Employee Onboarding Checklist

Welcome to Global Bank. This checklist is designed to ensure that every new employee experiences a structured and thorough onboarding process. Line managers, HR Business Partners, and the new joiner share responsibility for completing each milestone within the designated timeframe.

Pre-Arrival (2 Weeks Before Start Date)

  • HR Services sends the formal offer letter and contract via DocuSign.
  • Line manager submits the IT Systems Access Request (see IT Systems Access Request for New Joiners) through ServiceNow.
  • Facilities team allocates a desk, building access badge, and locker where applicable.
  • Line manager prepares a 90-day onboarding plan using the template available on the HR SharePoint site.
  • Background screening and right-to-work verification completed by the Compliance Onboarding Team.

Day 1

  • New employee arrives at Reception and collects building access badge.
  • Welcome meeting with line manager: introductions, team overview, and tour of the floor.
  • IT equipment collection from the IT Service Desk (laptop, monitors, peripherals).
  • Mandatory enrolment in the bank's Learning Management System (SAP SuccessFactors Learning).
  • Complete Day 1 compliance modules: Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Awareness, Code of Conduct, and Information Security Essentials.
  • Set up Workday profile: emergency contacts, bank details for payroll, and tax declarations.

Week 1

  • Attend the Global Bank Induction Programme (held every Monday, 09:00–12:30, delivered by HR Services).
  • Meet key stakeholders identified by line manager.
  • Complete all remaining mandatory e-learning modules (deadline: end of Week 1).
  • Line manager conducts an end-of-week check-in to review initial impressions and answer questions.

First 30 Days

  • Complete role-specific training as outlined in the 90-day onboarding plan.
  • Obtain all necessary system access and permissions (e.g., Bloomberg Terminal, SWIFT Alliance, internal trading platforms).
  • Attend a "Coffee with Culture" session organised by the Employee Engagement team.
  • Set initial performance objectives in Workday (minimum of three objectives agreed with line manager).

First 90 Days

  • Line manager conducts a formal 90-day probation review meeting.
  • New employee completes the Onboarding Experience Survey (distributed automatically via Workday).
  • HR Business Partner reviews probation feedback and confirms continued employment or extension of probation.
  • All outstanding compliance certifications must be completed before the 90-day mark.
