Internal Mobility and Job Postings
Internal Mobility and Job Postings
Global Bank actively encourages internal mobility as a key driver of employee development, retention, and organisational agility. Moving to a new role within the bank allows you to broaden your skills, gain cross-functional experience, and progress your career. This article explains how internal vacancies are posted, who is eligible, and how the application and transfer process works.
Internal Job Board
All open positions at Global Bank are posted on the Internal Job Board, accessible through Workday under Career > Find Jobs. The Job Board is updated in real time and allows you to:
- Search vacancies by division, location, grade, and job family.
- Set up job alerts to receive email notifications when roles matching your criteria are posted.
- Save roles to a shortlist for later review.
- Apply directly through the platform.
Internal candidates are given priority consideration for all vacancies. Roles are posted internally for a minimum of 5 business days before being advertised externally, unless a business-critical exception has been approved by the Talent Acquisition Director.
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for an internal vacancy, you must meet the following criteria:
- You have been in your current role for a minimum of 12 months (exceptions may be granted for restructuring or talent-at-risk situations).
- You have a current performance rating of 3 (Fully Effective) or above.
- You are not currently on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) or subject to active disciplinary proceedings.
- You have discussed your interest in internal mobility with your current line manager (strongly recommended, though not a formal requirement before applying).
Application Process
- Review the job posting: Read the full role description, required qualifications, and grade level on the Internal Job Board.
- Update your Workday profile: Ensure your skills, experience, and career preferences are up to date in Workday under Career > My Profile.
- Submit your application: Click "Apply" on the job posting. You will be asked to provide a brief statement of interest (300–500 words) explaining why you are interested in the role and what you would bring to it. No CV is required for internal applications; the hiring manager will reference your Workday profile.
- Interview process: If shortlisted, you will be invited to interview. Internal interviews typically consist of one or two rounds, including a competency-based interview with the hiring manager and a stakeholder panel.
- Outcome: The Talent Acquisition team will notify all applicants of the outcome within 10 business days of the final interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be offered feedback.
Transfer Process
If you are offered and accept an internal role, the following process applies:
| Step | Timeline | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Offer confirmation | Day 0 | Written offer issued via Workday; employee accepts electronically |
| Line manager notification | Day 0 | Current line manager is formally notified by Talent Acquisition |
| Transition period | 4–8 weeks | Standard internal notice period; negotiated between current and new line managers |
| Knowledge transfer | During transition | Outgoing knowledge transfer completed per the Knowledge Transfer Procedure |
| Start date in new role | End of transition | Employee moves to new team; Workday records updated automatically |
The standard internal transition period is 4 weeks for Grades 1–6 and 8 weeks for Grade 7 and above. In exceptional circumstances, the transition period may be shortened or extended by mutual agreement of both line managers and the HR Business Partner.
Lateral Moves and Secondments
In addition to permanent transfers, Global Bank supports:
- Lateral moves: Movement to a role at the same grade in a different team or division. Lateral moves are a valuable way to broaden your experience without requiring a promotion.
- Secondments: Temporary assignments (typically 3–12 months) in a different team, division, or geographic location. Secondments are posted on the Internal Job Board and require approval from both the home and host line managers.
Career Conversations
Employees are encouraged to have regular career conversations with their line manager and HR Business Partner. These discussions can help identify internal opportunities, clarify development needs, and build a personalised career plan. The L&D team also offers career coaching sessions; book via the LMS under Career Development > Coaching.
